Louis Vuitton and Supreme have long had an, ahem, complex relationship.
Much to hypebeasts’ chagrin, Vuitton announced this past week that the pop-up stores that were to sell the capsule are now canceled.
Fast-forward 17 years, and rumors swirled that LVMH, Vuitton’s parent company, is poised to buy Supreme.
In 2000, Vuitton sued the streetwear brand after Supreme rejiggered the house’s classic monogram pattern to have an “S” in place of “LV,” which was then printed on skate decks.
This has already created a thriving resale market for the lucky few that were able to acquire pieces from this rare collection.
