Robert Menendez on Wednesday slammed federal prosecutors for submitting a trial brief for his upcoming corruption trial, saying it appears to have been written to generate publicity, and could taint potential jurors.
The trial brief was written about by some national media outlets, including POLITICO and CNN.
It describes, in detail, the alleged political favors Menendez did for co-defendant Salomon Melgen, and the lavish rewards Melgen allegedly bestowed on Menendez.
“Brown said the brief was not requested by the court and was submitted without notice to the defense.
