Bob Menendez jurors return to deliberations

The jury indicated Monday that it had reached a deadlock

Newark, New Jersey (CNN) Judge William Walls instructed deadlocked jurors to keep deliberating Tuesday morning found in the corruption circumstance against New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez.

“This is a significant matter,” he told the jury. “This is not reality TV. That is real life.”

Menendez and his good friend, ophthalmologist Dr. Salomen Melgen, face a combined 18 counts of bribery and additional corruption charges. Prosecutors allege that Menendez utilized his office to greatly help Melgen’s business passions. Both guys maintain their innocence.

In an email passed to Walls Monday, the jury, comprised of five girls and seven guys, indicated that it had reached a deadlock. The jury have been deliberating for three time, by adding a different alternate to displace a juror who experienced to leave for getaway. All of those other jury deliberated for about 16 hours the other day.

Walls let the jury leave an hour early Monday to “get some sleep” also to “eat an excellent meal” so they could go back refreshed Tuesday.
