Oscar De La Hoya is looking to attack Conor McGregor if he causes a comeback to boxing. The eight-period WBO, IBF, and WBC champion offers been training privately, and on Monday he produced some bold claims about how quickly he thinks he can beat the UFC light-weight champion.
“I know I can remove Conor McGregor found in two rounds. I’ll keep coming back for that attack. Two rounds. Just one single more [attack]. I’m phoning him out. Two rounds, that’s all I need. That’s all I’m going to say. You observed it on Golden Boy Radio. Two rounds, that’s all I need.”
De La Hoya retired from boxing found in ’09 2009 after losing a attack to Manny Pacquaio the prior year. There is speculation at that time that the boxer possessed lost a step, which contributed to him jogging from the sport – however now at age 44 he’s looking to make a comeback.
“You understand I’m competitive. I even now own it in me. I’ve been secretly training, secretly training. I’m quicker than ever and more powerful than ever.”
There’s no time frame for a return right now, or if the UFC would be interested in another co-advertising with De La Hoya’s “Golden Boy Marketing promotions.” However, they are the same hurdles the UFC needed to work out to ensure that McGregor to attack Floyd Mayweather, and that acquired ironed out. The concern is whether the open public would be interested in finding De La Hoya-McGregor.
ESPN reviews the only way a attack would happen is if McGregor once more decided to fight in a ring, instead of a cage.
“Let’s obtain it straight: In the cage, he’d freaking destroy me. He would freaking destroy me. Just in the band,” De La Hoya explained.
De La Hoya has flirted with the thought of returning to the ring in the past, most-recently in 2015 – but that never came to fruition.
