Tech entrepreneur Rob Glaser was unwittingly embroiled in the countrywide political discourse this week, whenever a conversation between WikiLeaks and the president’s child was posted by The Atlantic.
Glaser told CNBC that he didn’t know he was personally appearing discussed or perhaps scrutinized by WikiLeaks or perhaps Donald Trump Jr., but he stated, “I’m certainly not shocked.”
WikiLeaks contacted Donald Trump Jr. regarding PutinTrump.org, a website funded by Glaser, according to messages published by The Atlantic and after released on Twitter by Trump Jr.
“A PAC function anti-Trump webpage ‘putintrump.org’ is about to release. The PAC is normally a recycled pro-Iraq war PAC. We’ve guessed the password. It is ‘putintrump.’ Discover ‘About’ for who’s behind it. Any comments?,” WikiLeaks wrote in a Twitter message.
The ‘About’ page on the website lists Glaser as the benefactor, as of an archive captured 6 days and nights after Wikileak’s message to Trump Jr. It also credits editorial director Costs Buzenberg, an alumnus of the guts for General public Integrity and National General public Radio.
“Off the record We don’t know who that’s but I’ll discuss with. Thanks,” Trump Jr. replied to WikiLeaks at that time. He provides since said that it is “ironic” that the chat was leaked because he just taken care of immediately WikiLeaks three times.
Glaser is founder of True Networks – the company behind internet multimedia participant RealPlayer – and was an early employee in Microsoft, although his support of the Putin-Trump internet site is personal. When he earliest spoke to CNBC about the release of the site, one day after the WikiLeaks correspondence, he stated he funded the site to support first reporting on the relationship between President Donald Trump and Russia, because he experienced reporting on the problem lacked continuity and was similar to an ice cream “flavour of the day.”
Because the site was unveiled in September 2016, social media websites have found evidence that Russian-based accounts promoted divisive political content equally before and after the election. The president has also defended the warming romance between the USA and Russia as a boon for international relations.
PutinTrump.org is currently associated with Mother Jones.
“In the times and weeks ahead We imagine we’ll find out about a lot more connections between Trump and the Russian hackers,” Glaser said.
Glaser features continued to follow the story aswell, publishing a Medium blog post earlier this week – just before The Atlantic’s piece – about Robert Mueller’s probe of the relationship between Russia and Trump.
