(CNN) Hugh Jackman apparently was neither shaken nor stirred by the opportunity of playing James Relationship.

In an interview with Variety , the actor said he was set to accomplish “X-Men 2” when his agent approached him about possibly starring as 007.

“I merely felt at the time that the scripts had become thus unbelievable and crazy, and I felt like they needed to become grittier and true,” Jackman said. ” And the response was: ‘Oh, you do not get a state. You just have to to remain.’ I was also worried that between Relationship and ‘X-Men,’ I’d never have period to do various things.”

Instead he continued to star in the “X-Men” sequel, which arrived in 2003, and Daniel Craig took over the Bond franchise from Pierce Brosnan.

Jackman, whose new film, “THE BEST Showman,” arrives in theaters December 20, said he tries to combine it up in terms of his roles.
