Academy establishes new standards of conduct post-Weinstein

Academy chief sent a good letter to associates on Tuesday

(CNN) The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has established new standards of carry out for its associates after allegations of sexual misconduct have roiled Hollywood lately.

Academy ceo Dawn Hudson sent a letter to its members Wednesday nights outlining the standards likely to get upheld by the roughly 8,500 members.

The letter said a particular task force was formed to draft the standards.

“During the period of weeks, the task pressure consulted with professors of ethics, business, philosophy, and rules from Georgetown, Harvard, Notre Dame, and Stanford, and experts in recruiting and sexual harassment,” the letter said. “We fulfilled with our counterparts at the tv screen Academy and BAFTA, and, for reference, we as well examined the codes of carry out of other organizations, including AFI, Film Independent, and UCLA.”

The industry has been rocked by scandals that has reverberated beyond Hollywood since October when the brand new York Times and the brand new Yorker broke stories that included explosive sexual misconduct allegations against motion picture producer Harvey Weinstein. Some ladies have accused him of rape.
